Top boss of ‘money circulating’ firm Speak Asia held

A top official of online survey firm Speak Asia was arrested from his Indore residence on Saturday.

The official, Ashish Dandekar who was in charge of the Maharashtra-Goa and Gujarat region, has been sent to police custody.

The Mumbai police’s Economic Offences Wing has been probing a case of money circulation against Speak Asia, and suspects that the firm’s primary work of offering money to respondents to surveys was a facade to its money circulation business.

The company has, however, claimed that its surveys were provided by companies to seek market information.

Police sources said Dandekar was recruited in June 2010 as regional manager for Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat and was allowed the flexibility to work from anywhere in the country.

Under his leadership, the region ranked second with maximum panelists - at over 3 lakh panelists, the police said.

While two Speak Asia officials have been arrested, its chief executive, Manoj Sharma, is absconding.
